You Should Be Toning: Here’s Why
If your skin care routine consists of only cleansing and moisturising, adding a toner into the mix can be a real difference maker in the health and happiness of your skin.
Let’s Talk Toning
Toning slips in right after cleansing, taking care of any makeup you might have missed and removing any cleanser build-up left on your skin. Your skin is now able to take full advantage of your moisturising/serum products; they’ll go on smoother and absorb deeper into the skin, boosting their benefits.
Like getting your swimming pool from murky green to crystal clear blue, your skin thrives when its pH balance is kept within a tight range. Skin prefers a slightly acidic balance of around 5-6 (on a scale of 0-14). Cleansing although fantastic for your skin, tips its pH balance towards a more alkaline nature. Toning combats this loss of balance bringing your skin back into the sweet spot.
Toning gets to work unclogging the skin’s pores from the oil, dirt and grime that build-up throughout the day. Toning tightens up the cell gaps of your skin, shrinking down pore size and leaving you less vulnerable to the irritants and pollutants that bombard us while out conquering the world.
Not all Toners are Created Equal
If you’re battling with your skin, it’s well worth the time to be sure your new Toner is free from synthetics, doesn’t contain any alcohol, preservatives or artificial colouring. The addition of those icky ingredients to your daily skincare routine can have adverse effects leaving you with chronically sensitive skin.
You can’t go wrong with our Gorgeous range of Toners (if we say so ourselves), they’re meticulously handcrafted from choice natural, organic ingredients without any of the harmful stuff.
How to Apply Your Toner
After cleansing your face, spray your toner onto a cotton wool pad and wipe across your face and neck, paying particular attention to your forehead, nose and chin. Then spritz onto the skin to get maximum benefit from all those skin loving ingredients. Here’s the kicker…whilst your skin is still slightly damp from the toner, apply your follow-on products like your serum and moisturiser. Application to damp skin massively improves product penetration and of course, efficacy.
